Summer is flying by
This was in my front yard today. Kind of makes everything real. My life is slowly being packed into Rubbermaid totes, I'm going to start selling furniture in a few weeks. I had my required physical last week, my doctor and various nurses and I had fun trying to figure out the form, although it was in English and Chinese, every measurement (weight, height, temperature) had to be in the metric system. And then I had to get chest x-rays. The last time I had chest x-rays was in France, and they do things a little differently there. Long story short, the American chest x-ray procedure is far less humiliating and much faster. I also started the visa process this week, but I can't send anything in, because I have to have a passport for my two-week trip to Europe. That begins one week from tomorrow. So I have a million things running through my head right now. I know I have to be in Taipei on August 11, so let the countdown begin: 54 days.

Food
I was in World Market today, and found Mochi. I have read that it's very popular in Taiwan. This is obviously Japanese style, but why not try it? It kind of tastes like an egg white/marshmallow stuffed with prunes and kidney beans. This might be an acquired taste.

Where I'll be
I have a placement! I'm going to be at Tong Sao Elementary School, in Miaoli County. Not sure what grade levels yet, but I looked it up on Google Maps, and the school looks nice. And it's less than a mile from the beach. Yeah. No exact dates, I have to arrange that, but I'll post as soon as have a plane ticket.
P.S. I have to get a physical before I go. And the forms are half in Mandarin. This should be fun.
